Questions visitors ask

A few questions we are asked more than once. For anything else, write to the centre, or ask at the desk.

How long should I allow?

Half a day for the Green Man Trail and the centre, and a further afternoon if you mean to take the eastern continuation or to sit with the labels. Kielder Water in the same country will fill a day if you have one. See Things to Do.

Is Plashetts on the map?

Yes. Approach as in Getting Here. Some maps of the valley show the name in slightly different places; see older maps. Follow the brown signs where they remain.

Is there a shop?

There is no shop in the village. Provisions are more readily found in Falstone and in Kielder. Sunday tea, when it is held, is at the hall.

Is there a public house?

The Colliery Inn is closed for refurbishment. See the inn. Rooms in the village may be had at Forest View.

Can I arrive on a Sunday?

Yes. The Heritage Centre is closed on Sunday except during the Gathering. The hall may be serving tea in season. The trail does not depend on the desk. See Opening Hours. In winter there is no Sunday bus; see in winter.

Do you take bookings on this website?

No. See booking. Letters are collected twice a week.

May I bring a dog?

Assistance dogs are welcome in the centre and the hall. Other dogs are not admitted to those buildings. On the paths, see dogs.
