We said in 1999 we would stop, and we have, more than once. The pages have grown and the village has not, which is the right way round. Forest View, the trail, tea when it is on. We remain glad of you. — The Hughes, Chester-le-Street

A neighbourly site for a neighbourly place. I do not come every week, and when I do the green is the green. That is enough to say. — R. Elliott, Hexham

First visit with the children. Gallery, green, a look at the carving when the church was open. We did not do the whole trail. There will be another time. The desk gave us the leaflet without fuss. — The Nguyens, Newcastle

We said in 1999 that we would come, and we have. The website was a good guide then and is a better one now. Rooms at Forest View, trail in the morning, Kielder in the afternoon. We are glad we found you. — The Robsons, Gosforth

Came over on the bus. Request-stop at the hall, sheet current. A practical way in. The village is the size it is. I sat on the bench and wrote this later. Thank you for keeping the pages up. — Hannah, Durham
4 April 2006
A pleasant stop. — The Nunns, Eye
2 April 2006
Used the request-stop. The weekly sheet at the hall was current. Driver knew the turning. There were three of us and a rucksack. A practical way in if you have not got the car. — Jim P., Bellingham

Saturday again. Market on, centre open, trail wet. We bought socks. The 2006 Gathering date is not on the website, which we now understand: it is posted at the centre when it is fixed. We will watch the board. — The Yates, Wetherby

Came over after church in Hexham. Plashetts church was open. The face in the chancel is the reason I keep coming, and I never have more to say about it than that. Sunday tea was on. I left cake with Mrs Hedley for next time. — Clare B., Hexham

At Seldom Seen we asked a man which way the green was. He was on the row and did not seem to be going in or out. He pointed, quite kindly, and we went. There is no turning circle. We reversed at the hall. — G. Costa, Porto

Keep the pages up, please. — Polly, Diss
19 March 2006
Followed Slater's Incline a little way from the paper, not from the trail. It is not a public path, and we treated it as ground, not as a right. It still feels like a line that expected a load. We turned back before the trees closed. — The McLeods, Fort William
18 March 2006
Second visit. The children wanted the gallery again. We had supper in Falstone and were back on the green for the last of the day. The inn is still closed. Forest View was full, so we did not stay. The trail was wet and well worth it. — The O'Neills, Leeds
12 March 2006
Weather last entered 12 March, the day we came. The porch felt colder than the figure. We walked anyway. The record is a record, not a forecast, which I had not taken in until I was there. — P. Iyer, Leeds
10 March 2006
A credit to the committee. — The Mains, Harleston
