The Village Hall

The Village Hall stands at the near end of the green as you arrive, with its gable to the road and the field opening behind. It is used for parish business, for the Gathering, the Class supper, and, in season, for Sunday afternoon tea. The hall was left incomplete between the wars and finished in a modest form. Indoor boards for the Gathering hang inside; a framed list of lodge secretaries is in the porch. The tea is the ordinary weekly offering of the village: a table, a cloth, cake, and whoever has come in from the trail. The key is held at the Heritage Centre. There is a step at the door.

Tea is served when numbers allow and when the hall is not required for other purposes. It is not served every Sunday, and not in the depth of winter. See weekly events. There is no need to book for tea. Groups wishing to use the hall should write in advance; it is a small hall and it fills.

The field behind the hall is used for camping in summer, by arrangement. Cars should park at the hall, not on the green, and not along the old approach, which has no turning.
