The Colliery Inn

Last updated: 21 April 2004

The Colliery Inn faces the green. It is a handsome frontage of the colliery years, and it has been the house of the village for as long as most of us remember. It is closed for refurbishment. Reopening was expected for Easter 2004. That date passed. The licence is presently in abeyance. Rooms are not offered. Meals are not served. The building is still the inn, and it still faces the green.

The telephone number previously published for the inn is no longer in use. Notices about the building are kept on the inn notice. For a bed in the village see Forest View, which has two rooms and a breakfast.

The sign remains down, as recorded in the parish notes. Visitors who remember the inn from an earlier year will find the frontage unchanged. The hall is at the near end of the green; Sunday tea, when it is served, is there.
