Brown signs

Brown signs on the valley road, where they remain, refer to this village. They are the ordinary tourist plates of the district, and we are glad of them. There is no through sign from the north as was once the case. The turning after Falstone is a modest one, and it is easy to pass if you are looking at the water, which begins to show itself as the valley opens.

Visitors have reported that the sign is gone after Falstone, and that they were told at Kielder the turning is easy to miss. It is, and it is still there. See from the north and by road.

The signs are not kept by this office. Replacement of a missing plate is a matter for those who keep them. The present approach is the valley road, and it is a good road. Older maps of the valley are of interest in the gallery.
