In winter
Last updated: 22 January 2006
Plashetts in winter is a quieter village still, which is saying something, and it is a good season for those who like the trees without the leaf. The same rides can be indistinct after snow, and they are handsome in that state. The upper burn crossing is often wet. There is no Sunday bus from Bellingham; the 2005 sheet is kept with the weekly note. The Heritage Centre is closed on Sunday except during the Gathering. The church has no regular Sunday hour. Tea is not served in the depth of winter.
The Green Man Trail remains open in the sense advertised on the home page: the main line is not closed. That does not mean every marker is standing, and it does not include the eastern loop, which is a longer outing and is best begun before 15.00 in winter. Boots. Allow more time than the map suggests.
If you will arrive after the desk has shut, the outer board will still be there, and the green will still be there. The buildings keep the hours under Opening Hours. The last weather entry is not a forecast, but it will tell you how the week has been.
