The laundrette
Last updated: 4 June 2005
The laundrette is the small building behind the Village Hall, toward the field. It is not a shop. Two machines and a dryer. They take pound coins. Change is not kept at this desk as a matter of course; the post office will sometimes, on a morning it is open. Take your own powder. There is a folding table and a chair that has always been there.

The laundrette, from the hall path. The field is behind. Photograph from a dry week; the line is used when the dryer is not.
Campers on the field use it, and guests at Forest View sometimes, on a longer stay. It is a kindness in a wet week. The dryer is not always working. In fair weather a line is put out behind the hall, and that is often the better drying. Fires are not permitted. Leave the car at the hall.
| In season | When the hall is open; 8.00–18.00 with the key |
|---|---|
| Winter | Daylight, if the pipes will |
| Sunday | Not as a rule |
The key is held at the Heritage Centre when the hall is shut. Ask at the desk. If you arrive after hours the machines will still be there in the morning. Washing left in a machine is held a week and then given to the hall; see lost property. This office does not take coins for the machines, and we do not keep a stock of powder.
