The bench
Last updated: 7 March 2006
The bench is the ordinary seat on the green, between the hall and the porch of the Heritage Centre. It faces the grass, with the inn (closed for refurbishment) across the far side and the church a little above. Sit here at the start of a visit, or at the end of one. There is no shop on the green. There is no public telephone. The box of the old kiosk is still there.

Sunday tea, when it is served, is at the hall a few yards off. Ask at the desk when the centre is open; as numbers allow. The outer board is on the centre wall and can be read at any hour. Parking is at the hall, which keeps the green for walking. The tourist walks leave from here.
Short returns to this seat are kept for walkers coming from the church, from the rows, from the rides, and from the water.
