From the water

Last updated: 20 February 2006

The last of the valley road is the green. If you have come from Kielder, from the shore or the castle, you have come by that road, which is the present approach. There is no public path from the water to the village, and none along the old incline. The ferry, the landings and the castle are a separate attraction. This office does not administer them.

Combining the water with Plashetts makes a full day. The air changes on the road: the open of the reservoir for the close of the trees. The name itself is a wet meadow, a bed of osiers, which is a different water from the great one in the valley. A short account is under a note on the name. Those who reached the shore first will find the turning under if you reach the water.

You cannot see the reservoir from the village. Sit at the bench on the green. The committee is glad you have found both. The hall, the centre, and the church above are the rest of the hour, if you still have one.

Other short returns to the green are kept: from the church, from the rows, and from the rides. Each comes out at the same bench.
