Just passing through. Nice village. — The Owens, Birmingham
29 May 2000
Walked the Green Man Trail on a weekday. About four miles as you say, moderate, stiles in order. Church was locked; we got the key from the centre. The south window does find the face in the afternoon. — P. Whitaker, Leeds
24 May 2000
Centre was helpful. — Chris, Bristol
20 May 2000
Brought a pushchair as far as the gravel would allow. The green is the place for that. The trail is stiles, as advertised, so my husband went on and we sat. Sunday tea was not on. We were content with the flask. — Liz Harper, Jarrow
11 May 2000
Flask and a sit on the bench. — T. Ng, London
29 April 2000
Kept to the main trail. — The Muirs, Hawick
16 April 2000
Brought the children in the Easter holidays. They liked the carving and asked a great many questions in the gallery, which the desk took in good part. We had a flask, as advised. There is indeed no shop. — Helen & Dave, Gateshead
16 April 2000
Fine day for it. — Anna, Kelso
8 April 2000
Red squirrel on the ride behind the hall, quite unconcerned. Crossbills working the cones further up. I have added a note to the list I keep. Ticks in mind for later in the season. — Neil P., Durham
4 April 2000
The carving is worth seeing. — S. King, Berwick
22 March 2000
From the east. Easy drive. — The Blakes, Penrith
19 March 2000
Took the mining heritage path from the garden and back by the green. It is not waymarked, as you say, and does not need to be; the rest is in sight. The school porch brass is 1933. We photographed it from the lane. — The Turnbulls, Ponteland
10 March 2000
Children enjoyed the green. — Pete, Hartlepool
26 February 2000
A good morning's walk. — Jill R., Darlington
14 February 2000
Planning a May walk from the pages. The Getting Here note is clear. We will come by road from the south and stop at Falstone for bread. Is the church usually open on a Saturday afternoon? — Rachel V., Oxford
