The second stile

The second stile is Stop 6 on the trail board. It is a good stile, and a good place to look back the way you have come. The main Green Man Trail does not leave here. The eastern loop does. The loop is not included in the advertised mileage. The board presently prefers the main trail for a first visit.

Two waymarkers were missing after this stile when the committee last walked the loop (11 October 2005). If you have come this far on the main line, continue as the path suggests toward the upper burn. The line is older than the paint. In winter the loop is best begun before 15.00.

Parties on the loop have come out near Seldom Seen, and sometimes they have not; the trees do not always give the same view. If the path becomes indistinct, this stile is the place to return to. See waymarkers.
