From the north
Last updated: 9 September 2004
There is no through sign from the north as was once the case. Visitors approaching from Kielder and the north should not rely on older OS sheets for the turning. The forest roads are well kept, and they are forest roads. Ask at Kielder if you need to; they know the district, and they will tell you the turning is easy to miss.
It is, and it is still there. Follow the valley road. Kielder Water is in the same country and makes a pleasant stop if you have the afternoon; see if you reach the water. The village turning is a modest one, as befits a village of this size.
Brown signs, where they remain, refer to this village. They are described under brown signs. The present approach from the south-east is under by road.
