The field
Last updated: 6 June 2005
The field behind the Village Hall opens as you come in, with the gable to the road and the trees at the far end. It is kept with the hall. In summer it may be used for camping, by arrangement. On Gathering day the same grass takes the overflow from the hall, and the tea is a larger table. On an ordinary Sunday, when tea is held, it is not the tea; the tea is inside.

The field, from the hall door. The trees at the far end are the first of the rides.
Cars remain at the hall. There is no turning on the old approach; reverse here. In wet weeks the field is not offered, because it is a field. There is no warden after 8 p.m. Water is from the hall tap when the hall is open. A picnic on this grass is a rug, if you have asked at the desk first, and is not Sunday tea. The laundrette is the small building at the hall end of this grass. Take litter back to the hall bins.
