The tin

Last updated: 27 March 2006

Names for a tin may be left at the porch. The cakes at Sunday tea come from the parish, and a tin is how a name is kept against a week. It is not a booking. It is not looked for. If you wish to leave a contribution toward the cake, the same tin will take it, and it is not the same as a name.

There is one tin. It lives in the hall kitchen when the urn is on, and at the porch when it is not. Mrs Hedley knows which week is which. A second tin was asked for on the small ads and was not the size. Do not take the tin off the table for a picnic. The cloth is not to be taken either.

There is no shop in the village. Provisions for a longer day are more readily found in Falstone. The tin is not that.
