The churchyard

The churchyard is reached by the gravel path from the green. It falls away toward the trees, as churchyards in this country often do, and it is a quiet place to walk after the gallery. Please keep to the gravel. The lower gate is not always unbolted; if it is shut, return by the same path, which is the usual way in any case. Several of the older stones lean and should not be stood upon.

The Green Man is inside the church, not in the yard. The yard holds the parish dead, including names also found on the mining memorial. Rubbings are not permitted; a photograph from the path will do, if the light is kind. Written enquiries about the registers may be left at the centre; we do not answer them by electronic mail as a matter of course.
