Path closures

Last updated: 14 October 2005

Closures may not be marked on the ground. Forestry and weather do not wait on the board, and a working forest is a working forest. Walkers go as they find it, which is part of the walking.

  • The eastern loop is not advised for a first visit. Two markers were missing when last walked (11 October 2005). In winter it is best begun before 15.00. If the line becomes indistinct, the stile is the place to return to.
  • There is no public path from the shore to the village, and none along the old incline. The shore is a separate attraction. The memorial garden is the place from which the colliery is shown.
  • The lower churchyard gate may be bolted. Use the gravel from the green, which is the usual way.

The main Green Man Trail remains open in the sense advertised on the home page. That is the main line, and it is the walk we recommend. See conditions.
