On foot

Last updated: 2 December 2005

Walkers already in the forest sometimes arrive by rides that look as if they must come out at the green, and sometimes they do. The old incline is a mining remnant and is not laid out as an approach; the memorial garden is the place from which that working is shown. Rides that fall toward the water come out at the water, which is a fine thing in its own right and is not the village.

From Falstone, the valley road is the honest way, even on foot, and it is a pleasant road. From the parish trail, you are already here. From Seldom Seen, the hall is behind you, which is the way back.

Those walking in from Kielder should allow more time than the map suggests, especially in winter, and should not start so late that they arrive after the centre has shut unless they are content with the board. The outer board will still be there, and the green will still be there. The buildings keep the hours under Opening Hours.
