The Green Man Gathering

The Green Man Gathering is held each summer, usually on the second Saturday in July. It is a parish event, and it is the day of the year. There is a walk in the morning, if the weather allows, taking the trail as far as the church and back by the trees. There is tea. There is talk in the hall, of the woods and of the pit. Music is provided when someone will play. Storytelling, when it is offered, is of the same country. It is not a large festival. It does not need to be.

In 2005 the Gathering was smaller than the year before. A short note is under 2005. The advertised speaker did not attend. The evening at the hall was cancelled. Thanks were recorded to those who provided tea, which was, as it always is, the thing people remember. The date for 2006 will be posted at the centre when it is fixed. It is not given here in advance, because it is fixed when it is fixed. The carving may be seen if the church is open, and on Gathering day it usually is.

The inn should not be counted on while it remains closed. The hall is the house of the day. The trail is walked in the morning if the weather allows. See also the guestbook, where visitors have left remarks.
